Reducing damage

Armour, blocking with shield and buffs can reduce damage.

Attributes also gives protection from some damage.

Arrow

From arrows

Bludgeoning

From clubs, maces and hammers plus mount bite and kick.

Piercing

From polearms and knives

Slashing

From swords and axes

Acid

From earth magic and acid transmuted weapons plus acid arrows.

Arcane

From guard towers, arcane and lesser magic.

Cold

From water magic and cold transmuted weapons plus cold arrows.

Fire

From fire magic and fire transmuted weapons plus fire arrows. Also from lava in landscape.

Holy

From arcane magic.

Impact

From falling, spikes, thrown stones and cannon balls.

Lightning

From air magic and lightning transmuted weapons plus lightning arrows.

Unholy

From necromancy magic.

Malediction

This is damage from curses. They typically drain a stat or protection.

Mental

This protects against certain debuffs.

Infliction

This kind of damage is typical damage over time (DoT).
